Willara House features 21 single study bedrooms, all fully furnished with carpet, curtains, a built-in wardrobe with dressing table, single bed, desk and chair.  Blankets are also available.  There are four showers and four toilets.

Access to computers and printer is available.  Each room has cabling that allows residents to access the internet once connected.  Music practice rooms and pianos are situated in the Church.  There is a TV and video lounge, BBQ facilities in a covered courtyard as well as table tennis, which can be set up for use.  The house has three telephone lines, two incoming and one outgoing.  (This is a coin operated gold phone.)

Staff

A Housekeeper/Supervisor and, on the weekends, an Assistant Supervisor ensures the successful day to day running of Willara House.  Pastoral care is available for all residents through the Church.

Meals

All meals are provided.  Each day residents prepare their own breakfast and lunch from a selection available in the kitchen.  Dinner is prepared for residents and will be kept for those that indicate they will be late.  Casual Meals are available for guests for $5.00.

Laundry

The free of charge communal laundry is equipped with a washing machine and drier.  There are ample clothes lines and ironing facilities are available. The resident is responsible for her own laundry and ironing.

Fire Precautions

Willara House views the matter of Fire Safety very seriously.  We were one of the first few hostels in Queensland to pass an inspection under the new Fire Safety Legislation introduced on 1 July 2002 by the Queensland Government for budget accommodation buildings.

A permanent telephone line to the Fire Station has been installed to enable around-the-clock fire surveillance.  Willara House meets all standard fire requirements for a hostel.  All fire equipment is regularly maintained and serviced.

Churches

The City Tabernacle Baptist Church is next door to Willara House and residents are invited to attend services, Bible studies and any youth group functions or Church activities.  Within the city area there are many other churches – a brochure listing churches, addresses and times of services is available.

Health and Fitness

Willara House is situated close to both the Spring Hill Baths and the Centenary Pool.  Numerous gyms are located close by in the CBD.

A medical centre is located at Spring Hill Medical Centre, 400 Boundary Street, Spring Hill.  St Andrew’s Hospital at 457 Wickham Terrace has an emergency centre as does the Royal Brisbane Hospital at Bowen Bridge Road, Herston.
